My mother is 89. She does not leave the house because she fell and broke her wrist a couple of years ago. I shop, clean, spend time with her, help her and do her banking, as well as watch her diet and health.

I cannot live on £53 a week. My family cannot live on £53 a week. Yet I cannot abandon my mother to life (or living death) in a care home.

Maybe you could redirect some of the bank managers/owners etc. obscene levels of profits to look after the most delicate and needy humans in our country. They looked after your rights during World War II and the time of austerity following it. It is said that we are judged on how we treat our poor, our mentally ill and our old people and disabled people, not how we enrich the already super-rich who cannot even begin to spend the money that they currently have.

Why not choose to give everyone a living wage of £10,000 per year. If they want more, they can earn it. Wouldn't that show the way to the likes of other Selfish Capitalist countries? Wouldn't we be a new super power in everything that matters?
