I suffer with severe and enduring mental health problems which leave me unable to work. At the moment I get income support and DLA. I recently received a form for ESA to which all claimants of the current Incapacity/ Income Support will soon be transferred. I was terrified as the form seemed so inadequate to convey my condition and also I have read so many negative experiences about Atos healthcare. But thankfully a friend referred me to a fantastic website called benefitsandwork.co.uk. It was set up by a barrister and a benefits writer and trainer to give independent factual advice on benefits claims and appeals. The advice is completely independent as the website receives no funding or support from the government, local authorities or large companies. I am sure it is unpopular with Atos and the DWP but it is has obtained and is able to give information under the Freedom of Information Act. The website is able to be independent as all its revenue comes form members' subscriptions. It does give free advice but for essential information for benefits claimants I can't recommend enough the help it gives for subscribers. It costs £19.45 to be a member which I know sounds a lot for people on benefits but this allows you to access it as much as you want for a whole year and download whatever information you need. There are members forums discussing different topics and experiences and providing support. There's also a full money back guarantee if you are not satisfied. I can't recommend becoming a member of this site enough, it has guided me step by step through the nightmare process of the ESA form and has given me so much information I would never have known, and even information that a lot of healthcare professionals are totally unaware of. Check it out!

Hi,
im starting a blog about esa and the nightmare that it is causing all of us. I was advised not to fill in the questionnaire that they sent because they use it to put people back in employment. Not filling it in led me to lose £400 of my benefit and my incapacity benefit off me. Then ESA told me I could make a fresh claim but i couldnt put down any of the medical conditions i currently had down on my new ESA form. I have Cerebral Palsy and have severe chronic pain for 8 years, so its put me in a really bad spot.
The government calls these new benefit schemes a reform. But, reform is about changes for the better but in my eyes whose this better for? Its not better for the sick or disabled in my personal opinion.
My reason for asking for your experiences in regards to this is to show people the human beings suffering because of this new benefit reform. If you would like to send me your experiences please email them to: dearian2013@yahoo.com.
I only need your first name and the city, town or county you are from to be published with your experience
thank you
